A history of Southeast Europe in general is an inseparable part of the history of Islamic and Western civilizations. The common legal, socio-economic and cultural history is documented and preserved in millions of written records presently kept in various archives throughout Europe and the Middle East. As a consequence of its geostrategic and geopolitical position, Southeast Europe has displayed a distinct religious as well as historical, cultural and socio-economic homogeneity. All these factors were the channels of "acculturation" of the regions of Southeast Europe. Being indigenous people of this region, Muslims managed to maintain and practice Islam for centuries. The present volume, comparising of sixteen chapters by various distinguished writers and academicians, is yet another work towards understanding Islam in Southeast Europe by looking at the past, examining the present and assuming the future.
