THE CALIPHATES by Zohayma Montaner

who doesn’t want to color those stress away, right?! I have been seeing a lot of coloring books these days that cater to the adult community, and for some reasons I also want to cater something that could be fun, stress relieving but also informative and educational for everyone who wants to know about Islam.

As a lover of history, I have made and design this coloring book with history tidbits about the islamic rules and law that ventured in this world for 1400 years and counting.

I have categorize them into 3 chapters, The Tawheed, The five pillars of islam and the caliphates.

The book is summarized (brief higlights/descriptions) containing some of major events that took place in each caliphate along with the notable caliphs with their beautiful sayings.

I pray this coloring book would somehow give or increase awareness of the beautiful history of Islam in our hearts.

In 2002 the author was working in Brunei Darussalam as forestry officer based at the National Herbarium at Sg Liang. It was a time when digital photography was getting popular. The author bought himself a digital camera and began to take digital photographs as a hobby. During weekends and free time the author spent a lot of time taking digital photographs of wild orchids at the local market( or tamu) to build his digital photography database. During that time, it was common to see wild orchid sellers at the Brunei tamu especially in Gadong during weekends. The author had made many friends among the wild orchids sellers and eventually the author was invited to the private nurseries and orchid collections of these kind-hearted Brunei people.

The manuscript of the book was completed and deposited at the University Brunei Darussalam (UBD) library in 2003. The manuscript was revised and updated at the end of 2014 for the current publication after an electronic copy of the manuscript was delivered to Siti Zaleha Kaprawi of Astera Consultant / Pentagram Design sdn.bhd. This book was published in collaboration with the international school Brunei (ISB). Mr Mahmud Yussof of Bio-RIC / Heart of Borneo (Brunei) Project gave full support for the publication of the book.

The scientific content of the book would suffice to provide useful reference on the wild orchids of Brunei Darussalam, but as a coffee-table book design includes decorative designs and some famous quotes. Pictures of certain species are found in various places in the book to make it more reader-friendly.

Not smoked or injected, but absorbed sublingually and slowly, Scandalous Metropolitan: Tokyo Street Scenes provides an undemanding fix of the world’s coolest city, Tokyo, in a loose 24-hour time frame. It is unlike any other book about Tokyo, and almost entirely visual. This book is a collection of Tokyo `stuff’, and is much more than a photography book. It captures the very things that make Tokyo unique. Glowing vending machines, quirky shops, whisky bars and the streets after the night before are in, but cliché such as geisha, temples and Harajuku street fashion are out. 9781864703153
